Marianne, a national emblem of France, is a personification of Liberty, Equality and Fraternity (Brotherhood).
The Dauriac family, owners of Marianne Wine Estate, chose this name to acknowledge their French origins and the French Huguenots. They have been making wine in Bordeaux for 30 years, at Château Destieux, Château La Clémence and Château Montlisse. When Christian Dauriac visited South Africa in 2002, he fell in love with this beautiful 36ha wine farm. The newly-constructed wine cellar was used for the first time for the 2005 harvest. Hand-picking and hand-sorting of the grapes, ensures that only the best are turned into wine.
