Cape Winelands Tours and Activities
The Winelands region is the ideal base from which to tour the Western Cape. We are awaiting your arrival and are ready to show you all of the gems of the Cape. Scroll down on our Winelands Tours page to see some of our suggested tours. Further information about things that you may like to see and do, especially in the Winelands itself, can be found on our Cape Winelands Destination Guide.
A holiday in Cape Winelands will allow you the opportunity to experience some of the most beautiful scenery in the Western Cape, in addition to tons of great South Africa wine tasting. Drive up the coast to Hermanus or even Cape Agulhas, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet, and watch the whales on your way back. Even better is to take a really close up view by going out on a Whale Watching boat trip. There's also a spectacular Mountain tour to Tulbagh and Ceres, or you can take a Brandy tour along the R60 out to Montague and Robertson.
A visit up the west coast is very often neglected. The Succulent Karoo region of Namaqualand has a lot to offer and is well worth a visit. Not to be missed in the spring is a visit up the west coast to Darling, or even further a field up to Clan William and the bird sanctuary at Lamberts Bay. For the nature lover, Botanists, and bird enthusiasts you have the opportunity to see some of our endemic wildlife. For the geologists and engineers, the passes built through the Western Cape Mountains by the pioneers are a marvel to see.
The rugged scenery of the Cape Peninsula and Table Mountain are a must. For the energetic, a walk up and across Table Mountain is a wonderful experience. Visit the Museum on top of Table Mountain and see just how they built the water reservoirs that fed Cape Town with water. Further a field you have Nature Reserves and Biospheres, all waiting to be explored.
The adventurous have a range of activities available to them. Shark diving, hang gliding, parachuting, shooting and bungee jumping from one of the worlds highest bridges are only a few of the options. For something a little different, try flying through the trees on a cable over waterfalls.
There are a number of wildlife game parks to visit on your South Africa vacation, including a stop to see the Big 5. No matter where you go, you will drive through the historical towns and Winelands vineyards.
The city of Cape Town itself has numerous options of things to see and do. Take an historical Cape Town tour to see just how and why Cape Town came into being. Go shopping in the city and the Waterfront.
Further a field is the option of a trip up the Garden Route, widely considered to be one of South Africa's best drives.

4 Mountain Pass Tour
Duration: 1 day(s)(assuming 2 travellers)
There are over 30 Mountain Passes in the Cape Region. They were built originally by the early settlers to provide access to farming land as well as to the indigenous Khoi herders who traded cattle. Over the years these passes have been improved for the wagons that took the early settled to pastures new. Then came the railways and more recently the road transport vehicles.
These passes now provide some of the most spectacular scenery as well as superb examples of the Cape Fold Mountains; sometimes looking more like a Roman arch. Whether you’re an engineer, a geologist or just enjoy fantastic scenery a day out travelling over 3 or 4 passes is an experience not to be missed.
Winelands Experience has put together a number of different routes that can be mixed & matched to meet the clients personal requirements. A straight forward mountain Pass drive or include the route in a Vineyard wine or Brandy experience. Alternatively we can take a trip down the R60 & 62 out to Barrydale. If you feel like a night away then we can go for an overnight stopover in Oudtshoorn.
This is one of those mountain pass tours.
